NEA 30 hours - March 2019

Magazines: Brief 1,
Create a front cover and a double page spread article for an informative
educational magazine aimed at an audience of 10-13 year olds.

Production must include as a minimum:
At least five original images (e.g photographs, illustrations, art work).

Front cover:
Original masthead / title.
Strapline.
Cover price, barcode, edition number.
Original images: at least one main cover image.
At least three cover lines one of which must link to the double page spread article.

Double page spread article:
Headline, stand-first and sub-headings.
Original images: one main article image and at least three other images.
Feature article of approximately 300 words that links to one of the cover lines on the front page.

I chose this brief as I'm interested in photoshop and would also like to inform children ages 10-13 about makeup. This can help people at this age as there would be information about this and backstories on it, etc. This magazine would mainly be for a female audience seeing as a high amount of girls this age will begin to wear makeup and need to be aware of the causes of it.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • K: The requirements for each of the briefs set by OCR.
  • U: How to approach the chosen brief, including writing the statement of intent.
  • BAT: Choose a brief and start planning what to write in the statement of intent.
  • CO: Use media terminology (all areas of the theoretical framework) in your written and verbal communication.

If you chose to do Brief 1: Choose TWO front covers and TWO double spread articles from educational magazines.

In the front cover, you can analyse that in both magazines, there is a child as a front cover which resembles that this magazine is for children's purposes. They also both include having a headline and facts and rhetorical questions around the picture possibly used to engage the reader.
